Being Jasper’s largest hotel, this may be your best bet if other accommodations in Jasper are already full.

The Sawridge Inn is also offering two special 2 night New Year packages:
Their Family New Year Celebration Package is a two night package which includes hotel accommodation for 2 nights, buffet breakfast each morning, a New Year’s Eve family dinner on December 31 2011, New Years beach party and dance with a countdown to 2012 and celebrations at midnight. The package starts at $304 per adult and is valid for arrivals on December 30 or December 31 2011.
The Gourmet New Year Package is a another two night deal for arrivals on Dec 30 or 31 and takes the celebration up a couple of notches. Starting at $339 per adult, the package includes accommodations for 2 nights, daily buffet breakfast, a gourmet five course table d’hote dinner on New Year’s Eve, and a New Year party with countdown and celebration.

No Vacancy ?
If you are struggling to find a vacancy at Jasper hotels for New Year’s Eve, an alternative would be to stay at a hotel in Hinton, approx 75km east of Jasper. Lobstick Lodge has a dinner buffet on Christmas Day December 25th which features a selection of salads, carved roast turkey with stuffing and gravy, BBQ chicken, oven baked salmon, maple roasted sweet potatoes and vegetables. The dessert table includes pumpkin pie, berry tarts, fresh fruit and cookies. The cost is $28 for adults and $10 for kids 6-12 years.

Chateau Jasper is offering a Christmas dinner buffet in the Silverwater Grill & Lounge on December 25 2011 which includes a variety of salads, cured meats, smoked seafood, herbed roasted turkey, honey dijon ham, crab legs, red & sweet potato mash, fresh vegetables, topped off with cheesecake and warm bread pudding for dessert and coffee or tea. The cost of the buffet is $30 for adults and $10 for children 6-12 years.

Amethyst Lodge is featuring a Christmas dinner for $25 on December 24 and 25 with a choice of roasted maple butternut squash soup or winter garden greens to start, followed by Tom Turkey with all the trimmings as the main course and pumpkin pie with whipped cream for dessert.

Marmot Lodge is serving Christmas dinner in Embers Steakhouse on Christmas Eve December 24 and Christmas Day December 25, costing $25. Start with a tomato vegetable soup with chicken apple meatballs, or organic green garden vegetables, followed by an entree of turkey and wild mushroom wellington with gravy and cranberry sauce and a pumpkin cheesecake for dessert.

The Sawridge Inn is offering a 2 day Xmas Package on December 24 & 25 2011 which includes 2 nights accommodations with a hearty buffet breakfast each morning, a Xmas treat platter delivered to your room, a buffet dinner on Christmas Eve December 24th and a traditional Christmas dinner buffet on Christmas Day December 25th. The Christmas Day dinner buffet will include delectable items such as Slow Roasted Tom Turkey, Carved Fire Roasted Strip Loin, and a White & Dark Chocolate Fountain. The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge promises a fun filled weekend for the whole family during the Thanksgiving holiday with a selection of activities and events which are sure to entertain both the children and adults alike, including pumpkin carving, scavenger hunts, movies, karaoke, crafts, and family bingo.

Many other Jasper National Park hotels are likely to have special dinner menus for Thanksgiving weekend, and at the time of writing (Sept 29) there are rooms available at most hotels in Jasper for Friday October 7, Saturday October 8 and Sunday October 9 2011. Being a holiday weekend, availability is likely to become limited and early reservations are recommended. From May 6 to September 25 2011, the Jasper-Yellowhead Museum and Archives will be hosting the exhibition David Thompson: A Legacy of Art, featuring works of various artists, including sketches and a map by David Thompson himself.

From June 24 to September 4 2011, interpretations of David Thompson’s explorations will be shown as part of the Theatre Program at Whistlers Campground each Tuesday at 9pm.

On Thursday August 18 2011 the Pelts and Paddles Rendezvous is an all day festival taking place at the Jasper Airfield Picnic Site from 11am to 6pm. Take the free shuttle from the Jasper Information Centre and enjoy a whole host of fun and interesting activities on offer throughout the day, including hay wagon rides, trappers’ activities and games, David Thompson’s Amazing Race, horse packing demonstrations, barbecue and beer garden.

Friday August 19 2011 sees the Watch the Brigade! event at Jasper Airfield at 8am, where several crews will be departing in traditional canoes on a historial 3 day voyage on the Athabasca River.

From February 5 to 7 2010, Mountain Park Lodges and Jasper Tourism will be hosting the first annual Jasper Winter Pride Weekend.
The Chateau Jasper and the Lobstick Lodge are offering $74 room rates for the event, where you will receive a welcome kit detailing the many discounts available throughout the weekend. The Welcome Reception takes place in the Skyline Room at the Lobstick Lodge from 7pm to 10pm on Friday February 5, and on Saturday February 6 there is live music from Linkomatics from 8pm to 1am in the Downstream Bar ($5 cover).
